30 Days of Virtual Facilitation Tips for Beginners

To celebrate the start of spring, September 2025, I decided to get crackin’ on a series of LinkedIn posts called ‘30 days of virtual facilitation tips for beginners’.

The series of short posts are designed to be super super simple ideas/tips that can be easily overlooked when facilitating in virtual spaces, but with a bit of attention paid to them, can make a massive difference to how a virtual live session goes.

You can find copies of the posts by following this link. Enjoy!

Oh and that's Bear, my work buddy.  He stars in quite a few of the posts.

Chameleon Live

In August 2025, I had the privilege of showcasing how I used Chameleon Creator to create a module for using in leadership or coaching situations.

In this Chameleon Live session I explained how I used Chameleon to create a module on SMART Goals, and how tools such as ChatGPT and Canva helped me speed up the build process.

Using these tools I was able to get my module built to prototype stage in just under 9 hours.

Offbeat Sparks - Online

In December 2024 I had the privilege of taking part in Offbeat Sparks - Online, where I was one of 21 L&D experts from all over the world who were asked "What questions should L&Ds ask in 2025?"

We had five minutes to offer up our view.

My question was "What's your start place in learning design?

Your personal worldview, cultural background, and lived experiences shape every decision you make. But how often do you pause to examine them? Do you know where your biases show up in your learning programs? Whose perspectives are you centering? Whose voices are missing?

Seen in Scenes

In November 2024 I took part in the 24 hour facilitation event for the launch of Butter Scenes.

I joined 40+ AMAZING speakers bringing their talent, knowledge and wisdom to the festival. Each of us had to run a 1-hour free mini workshop using Butter Scenes. The workshops ran back-to-back for 24 hours straight, although these little beady eyes only made it for a fraction of that time😲.

My workshop was on, fostering a sense of connection and belonging in virtual spaces, we together we explored strategies for building genuine connections that lead to meaningful engagement in virtual environments.

Drawing on a blend of Te ao Māori and Western learning practices from Aotearoa New Zealand, we explored what can make virtual interactions feel more personal and authentic.

You can watch some of the recording here.

DisruptHr Wellington 4.0

In March 2023 I took part in the DisruptHR Wellington 4.0.

We had five minutes, 20 slides and each slide has to be on the screen for no more than 15 seconds to cover an HR related topic of our choosing.

I chose to speak on some of the learning I had been doing about in integrating Te ao Māori constructs into my learning design and leanring evaluation mahi (work).

The talk explored "What if we privileged Te Ao Māori knowledge and tikanga at the start of our learning design? What could we do differently?"

You can check the talk out here.

Business Spotlight Podcast

In conjunction with the Hutt Valley Chamber of Commerce, I recently ran a podcast series, aimed at shining a spotlight on the incredible businesses within our Hutt Valley community.

In each of the episodes, I chatted to one local Hutt Valley business, uncovering their unique stories, innovative practices, and the invaluable contributions they make to the Hutt region.

In the final episode of this series - the tables were turned and I got a chance to explain what I do, or at least tried to explain what it is I do LOL!

You can check out other episodes on the Hutt Valley Chamber of Commerce's You Tube Channel.
