Offbeat Sparks - Online
In December 2024 I had the privilege of taking part in Offbeat Sparks - Online, where I was one of 21 L&D experts from all over the world who were asked "What questions should L&Ds ask in 2025?"
We had five minutes to offer up our view.
My question was "What's your start place in learning design?"
Your personal worldview, cultural background, and lived experiences shape every decision you make. But how often do you pause to examine them? Do you know where your biases show up in your learning programs? Whose perspectives are you centering? Whose voices are missing?
You can check out the other L&D experts explore their questions here.
Seen in Scenes
In November 2024 I took part in the 24 hour facilitation event for the launch of Butter Scenes.
I joined 40+ AMAZING speakers bringing their talent, knowledge and wisdom to the festival. Each of us had to run a 1-hour free mini workshop using Butter Scenes. The workshops ran back-to-back for 24 hours straight, although these little beady eyes only made it for a fraction of that time😲.
My workshop was on, fostering a sense of connection and belonging in virtual spaces, we together we explored strategies for building genuine connections that lead to meaningful engagement in virtual environments.
Drawing on a blend of Te ao Māori and Western learning practices from Aotearoa New Zealand, we explored what can make virtual interactions feel more personal and authentic.

DisruptHr Wellington 4.0
In March 2023 I took part in the DisruptHR Wellington 4.0.
We had five minutes, 20 slides and each slide has to be on the screen for no more than 15 seconds to cover an HR related topic of our choosing.
I chose to speak on some of the learning I had been doing about in integrating Te ao Māori constructs into my learning design and leanring evaluation mahi (work).
The talk explored "What if we privileged Te Ao Māori knowledge and tikanga at the start of our learning design? What could we do differently?"
You can check the talk out here.
